THE INSOURCING WAY
A Return to Power
The Way
We wait too long.
I know this one personally. I have spent 25 years watching it happen in every client I've worked with, and a lifetime seeing it in everyone I know, at some point.
We wait for courage. We wait until we're ready enough. We wait until the nest egg is large enough, the timing is better, the budget is approved, permission is granted. We wait and wait and wait.
What we are too often waiting for is someone to assure us we have what it takes and it’s all going to work out. That the time is now. That we'll be okay.
We are outsourcing Authority. Agency. Worth. And we have been doing it so long we missed that we are living proof of self-abandonment.
I am over that for us.
I have become my own best ally — imperfect, and getting more reliable every day. It took years. I have watched clients claim it. And I want it for all of us. Not to the exclusion of learning, of good counsel, of information that sharpens our thinking. But with the certainty, in the end, that I have the final say in my own life. As do you.
The Insourcing Way was built for this. It came from this.
The Model
There are three energies at the heart of this work. They are not steps to complete or boxes to check. They are a living system and like any living system, they can fall out of balance.
-
Radical Self-Responsibility is where it begins. This is where you take responsibility for who you are, what you do, how you feel, the stories you tell yourself and others, and the ways you brought you to this moment. It is the moment you stop looking outside you, stop blaming, and start moving. The moment you claim self-leadership. This is where inner authority begins.
-
Radical Self-Trust grows every time you take responsibility and choose for yourself. Anything at all. Every time you do this, you prove yourself trustworthy with your dreams. That you are able to weather what comes. It deepens every time you look honestly at yourself and choose to keep going with your eyes wide open.
-
Radical Self-Care is the container that holds everything else. It is slowing down that lets you hear yourself most clearly. The walk where inspiration arrives. The shower where the solution surfaces. The pause before the sprint that makes the sprint sustainable. Without it the other two have no ground to stand on.
Picture three concentric circles. You at the center. Responsibility as the first circle around you. Trust as the next. Care as the outermost — holding all of it.
This is not a hierarchy.
It is a home.
When we
lose ourselves.
Any one of these energies can overfunction. And most of us don't get stuck in one distortion — we ricochet among them, the wheel spinning without moving us forward.
Responsibility without self-trust or self-care looks like taking on your stuff, my stuff, everyone's stuff. It's martyr energy. It results in resentment, exhaustion, invisibility.
Self-trust without responsibility or self-care looks like being the only one in the room with a clue. It's hubris. It results in arrogance, judgment, self-righteousness.
Self-care without responsibility or self-trust looks like hiding from your life. It’s self-indulgent. It results in inertia, victim mentality, withdrawal.
Every distortion, in its own way, leads to the same place. Isolation.
The invitation is not to perfect any one of them. It is to grow into each more and more. To let them support each other so the whole system can move with coherence, with ease, and holding you in your agency at the center of it.
Where do you stand?
Those who find their way to this work have a sense something is missing, there’s a yearning for more, different, deeper. They feel the call to adventure.
This is so new we are still finding language for it. But we know we must go inward first, in a return to our agency.
As within, so without. As you are with yourself, so you will be in the world.
The Insourcing Assessment was built to give us a leaping off point.
It will reveal where you are most resourced, where you are developing strength, and where you may be working against yourself. It takes three to five minutes to complete and will give you tips for leveling up.
